Sanitary stainless steel rotating cleaning ball, also known as stainless steel cleaning ball, tank cleaning ball, tank washer or spray ball, is a rotating spray head used to clean storage tanks, reactors and containers.

It has the following characteristics:


- Material: Usually made of stainless steel such as 304, 316L with good corrosion resistance.


- Structure: The head is round in shape with many small holes for spraying clean water. Double ball bearings are used in its rotating head.


- Working principle: Automatic rotation is driven by the reaction of the nozzle spraying water. It uses less washing liquid under low pressure and is an effective alternative to traditional fixed spray balls.


- Product features: It has the advantages of simple structure, beautiful shape, quick disassembly and assembly, flexible operation, and low fluid resistance.


- Technical parameters: The working pressure is generally 1-3bar, the working temperature can reach 95℃, the ambient temperature can reach 140℃, the wet radius is 3m, and the spray cleaning radius (effective radius) is about 2m. The interfaces include welding, quick-install and threaded types.

- Application range: Widely used for effective cleaning in tanks in the fields of chemical, petroleum, electricity, pharmaceutical, beer, food, dairy beverages, cosmetics, water treatment and biotechnology.



The following are some possible differences in the holes on the stainless steel sanitary pin spray balls (different types of spray balls in terms of holes):


Hole size:


*Larger holes*

 If the holes are relatively large, the flow of water or cleaning fluid sprayed from a single hole is relatively large under the same pressure, which is conducive to the rapid flushing of some dirt that is not particularly adherent; but larger holes may make the sprayed fluid not dispersed enough, and there may be insufficient coverage.

* Smaller holes*

 Small holes will increase fluid resistance, resulting in greater overall pressure loss, but can make the sprayed fluid more dispersed and delicate, forming a spray effect, which is helpful for situations that require fine cleaning and more comprehensive coverage (especially the inner surface of some complex-shaped containers). However, small holes are easily blocked by impurities and may require higher supply pressure due to high resistance.


Hole distribution:


* Even distribution*

 The holes on the entire spray ball surface are evenly distributed, which can ensure that the fluid is sprayed relatively evenly from all angles, and the container is cleaned or sprayed more evenly; if it is used in simple-shaped tanks, containers and other environments, it can better achieve full coverage.

* Non-uniform distribution (e.g., some areas are dense and some areas are sparse)*

- It may be for a specific container structure, such as setting more holes in the corresponding positions of some areas with special obstacles or areas that need to be cleaned (such as near the feed port, etc.) to increase the local cleaning intensity;

- For some irregular shaped containers, the sparse area can be to avoid some corners that cannot be sprayed and guide the fluid to reflect in other directions.

*Circular hole*

 This is more common. The processing of circular holes is relatively simple. The ejected fluid has a certain directionality and concentration, and the shape of the fluid after ejection is relatively regular.

* Long strip hole (or slit hole)*

 It can make the ejected fluid form a fan-like distribution and increase the coverage width of a single spray; for some larger plane areas, the cleaning efficiency may be higher than that of circular holes; but the long strip hole may require a higher processing accuracy and strength, and it is relatively more difficult to clean if it is blocked.

 The initial velocity of the fluid when it is sprayed may be relatively fast because the acceleration distance of the fluid in the hole is short; but it may be greatly affected by factors such as external pressure, which may easily cause unstable fluid spraying.

*Deep hole*

 The fluid has a longer acceleration distance in the channel, and the velocity and pressure of the sprayed fluid are relatively more stable and continuous, which can also reduce the interference of the outside world on the fluid at the orifice to a certain extent.



Its specific technical parameters may vary depending on product specifications and manufacturers. When using it, you should pay attention to selecting the appropriate specifications and connection methods according to actual needs, and operate and maintain it in accordance with relevant operating procedures to ensure the cleaning effect and normal operation of the equipment. At the same time, you should regularly check the condition of the cleaning ball and replace it in time if it is damaged.
